The theme of the competition is "What's Sacred?" Photographs selected for the "What's Sacred?" exhibition will best capture this theme.
- All entries will be screened and exhibition photographs will be selected by a panel of competition judges, including professional photographers and professors of arts and humanities. Judges' decisions are final.
- One jpg entry per person (jpg may be a single photograph or a series of photographs saved as one jpg)
- On-line entry submission requirements: 1MB max; 72 dpi; RGB or grayscale; longest side of image dimensions must not exceed 1024 pixels; files must be saved as .jpg (lowercase jpg) at "high" or "maximum" quality.
- If your photograph is selected for the "What's Sacred?" exhibition, you will be required to submit a higher resolution file (300 dpi) which will be used to make a larger print for the exhibition.
- Photographers must be 18 years of age or older, including students, residing in the County of Santa Barbara, California.
- Entries must be submitted by midnight on Saturday, December 15, 2007. There is no entry fee for this competition. An entrant whose photograph is selected for the exhibition will be notified by January 15, 2008.
- Photographs submitted to the competition may be used by the URC for educational and promotional purposes directly related to the activities of the URC.
- All exhibition prints become the property of the URC.
- The exhibition prints will be available for sale and the proceeds will be donated to the URC, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Additional prints may be sold by the photographers.
- Any entrant whose photograph is selected for the exhibition will compete for cash and prize awards. Awards will be announced at the "What's Sacred?" exhibition opening reception on Thursday, March 6, 2008 from 5 – 7 PM. The exhibition will take place at the University Religious Center, 777 Camino Pescadero, Isla Vista, California. [Please note: opening reception date has been changed]
