Room Rentals
The URC has two spaces available for tenants, members, and the
Isla Vista/Santa Barbara community to use: the Samuel Barlow Mosher
Auditorium and the Ken Bartlett Lounge. Current non-member rates
are $25/hour for the use of the auditorium, and $15/hour for the
use of the lounge ($20/hr for youth programs). Note: Rates
in effect for as many hours as the facility is used per event.

The Samuel Barlow Mosher Auditorium
The auditorium has a floor area of 1176 square feet. It includes
a fireplace, a piano, access to a back porch area, the use of tables
and folding chairs, and access to the kitchen, which includes a
refrigerator, institutional-sized sink, range, and ovens, as well
as a microwave. It can hold a maximum of a hundred people, and seventy
to eighty comfortably.
The Ken Bartlett Lounge
This smaller and cozier space covers 410 square feet. A number
of comfortable chairs and small tables are in the lounge, and it
also includes access to a small, protected patio area. The lounge
can seat twenty to thirty comfortably, with a maximum of forty people
fitting in the lounge.
Priority for Building Use
The URC gives priority for building use to member organizations,
tenants, and local community religious organizations. However, we
also rent building space to non-profit community organizations whose
aims coincide with our mission statement, such as local government,
UCSB non-profit organizations, and other Isla Vista/Santa Barbara
organizations whose aims are to improve our community. We do not
rent the space to private organizations or for personal activities.
Building Policies
Listed below are some of the policies about building usage at the
URC.
In order for the URC tenants, members and the Isla Vista Community
to continue enjoying the low cost use of our building, we ask all
to follow some basic guidelines. Unless otherwise approved by the
URC Administration, all tenants and groups utilizing the facilities
must follow the guidelines.
- Decorations may be used only if they are held-up or supported
by push- pins. No tape, glue, hooks may be used on the walls,
ceilings or doors at any time.
- All decoration must be removed at the end of the event, including
posters and advertisement materials.
- Music must be kept at a reasonable volume.
- All tables and chairs must be folded and put away at the end
of each event. No URC property may be removed from the premises
at any time without the prior consent from the building administrator.
- The kitchen must be cleaned and garbage taken out to the garbage
bin.
- You must bring your own kitchen supplies and consumables. Do
not use anything in the kitchen cabinets, as they belong to someone
else. "If it is not yours do not use it".
- Each group is responsible for bringing their own emergency kit
and cleaning supplies such as paper towels, dishwashing soap and
sponges.
- No rental equipment may be left overnight in the Auditorium/Lounge
or Kitchen by non-member groups.
- Please remember that the URC holds no responsibility when it
comes to theft during an event. Make sure your equipment is being
supervised at all times.
- Make sure that all sliding doors, windows and exit doors are
secure prior to locking up and leaving the URC. A $25.00 assessment
will be enforced for non-compliance.
- No alcohol is allowed at any time on URC property. That includes
the parking lot, front of the building, patios and grass areas.
- No smoking is permitted in the URC at any time.
- Your group will be responsible and billed for any damages.
- There is a $75.00 cleaning deposit for any non-member group
using the URC facilities, and a $25.00 deposit for the building
keys.
- Every group must make sure that they have vacated URC property
by 11:00 p.m. at any given evening. That includes the parking
area and front of the building. Please make sure you have completed
clean up by that time. Groups remaining on URC property past that
time may be subjected to questioning by the Isla Vista Foot Patrol.
- URC keys are due back on the next business day after the expiration
of the building use contract, and no copies of the keys should
be made. Lost keys will result in a $50.00 charge.
- Any schedule changes in regards to the use of the facilities
described in the contract, must be approved by building administration
and are subject to the facility availability.
- A fifteen (15) day notice must be given for the cancellations
of facilities use for any of the days included in the contract.
Failure to do so will result in financial liability for the days
in question.
- The URC may refuse future use of the facilities to any group,
member or otherwise, if these guidelines are not followed.
